We developed our Food pack for river runners who don't have the time or inclination to shop and pack their own food for an extended wilderness expedition.  We offer many delicious and healthy selections and have the reputation for the highest quality and most generous quantity of food on the river.  All food is arranged by day and meal in a logical, easy-to-follow system.

We will glady provide mixed meals for vegetarians and non-vegetarians at your request.  Call us about other special dietary needs or concerns.  We're happy to accommodate everyone.

Menu Service

After you reserve our services, we send you Canyon REO's Customized Meals Booklet, which includes the Menu Planner, numerous menu choices, sample menus and menu planning advice.  By the 60-day deadline, you complete the Menu Planner by choosing from our collection or inserting your favorites (with recipes).

Food & Beverage

The food selections range from eggs and bacon to cold cereals for breakfast; from salmon/veggie pitas to trail lunch for lunch; from mixed grill to chili and cornbread for dinner; from greek salad to canned peas for salad; from dutch oven cobbler to gourmet cookies for dessert.  Bread or another starch is provided with each meal.

Plenty of coffee, tea (black, green and herbal) and hot chocolate is available for every cam.  Fresh half & half is packed for 6-8 camps, then evaporated milk.  Frozen juice is packed for 6-8 camps, then a variety of powdered drinks such as Gatorade, iced tea, Crystal Light and lemonade.  Available cooler space determines the number of camps for frozen juice and half & half.  We do not provide soda, beer or alcoholic beverages.

Shopping

After your menu is finalized at the 30-day deadline, we shop the food.

Packing by Camp

You food is packed by meal and by camp in Canyon REO's coolers and boxes.  For an 18 day trip for 16 people there are usually:

4-5 camp coolers (178-195 quarts)	1 lunch cooler (150 quarts)	2 aluminum dry boxes for bread
1 produce cooler (195-230 quarts)	9 crates for hearty produce	20 ammo cans for eggs and dry food

The menu can be customized to minimize the number of coolers.

Spices and Staples

Canyon REO provides a spice kit and a staples box loaded with spices, oils, sauces and baking items.  There are many items not specifically called for in your recipes.  Our intent is to give your cooks the flexibility to add their personal flair to the meals.

Back-up Food

In case of emergency or loss of food through a flip or other unforeseen circumstance, Canyon REO provides an extra 20 mil box filled with back-up food  If includes a complete breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
